Is my ship order protected?

  • Yes. Security and reliability are our top priorities. All ships sold by LTI Hangar come from our own inventory, with no external sellers or unknown third-party suppliers involved.

Please also note that in the gift email, only the ship that was used as the base for upgrading will be named. Please don't worry, the actual ship you will see in your hangar will be the one you've ordered.

Polaris Standalone Ship Gameplay Guide

The RSI Polaris is a capital-class corvette built for Star Citizen players who want serious multi-crew combat capability, heavy torpedo firepower, and long-term fleet value. It is designed for organized operations such as patrol duty, escort missions, torpedo strikes, fleet security, and militia flagship-style gameplay.

Unlike smaller daily-driver ships, the Polaris is not mainly built around casual solo flying. Its real value comes from crew coordination, Size 10 torpedoes, turret coverage, onboard hangar utility, 576 SCU cargo capacity, and support features that allow it to act as a practical centerpiece for group gameplay.

Build Your Capital Fleet with the Polaris

The Polaris remains a highly sought-after corvette for players building a dedicated Star Citizen fleet. If you are looking to acquire this RSI capital ship, you can explore our available options in the Star Citizen Ships and Vehicles Collection.

Polaris Key Specifications

The Polaris combines capital-class size with practical fleet support features. Its core specifications show why it is valued not only as a torpedo ship, but also as a flexible platform for organizations, combat groups, and coordinated multi-crew operations.

Main Firepower Size 10 Torpedoes Provides reliable threat potential against larger sub-capital and capital targets from range.
Fleet Utility Small-Craft Hangar & Support Space Adds flexibility beyond direct combat, allowing the Polaris to support smaller craft and longer group missions.

Note: Star Citizen ship specifications are subject to balance changes by Cloud Imperium Games during ongoing development. The table above serves as a gameplay reference for understanding the Polaris and its relative position in the current ship lineup.

What Makes the Polaris Valuable?

The Polaris is valuable because it gives players access to capital-class gameplay without stepping into the full operating scale and heavy staffing demands of larger military ships like the Idris or Javelin. It delivers enough firepower to influence fleet combat, enough crew depth to support meaningful teamwork, and enough utility to remain useful outside of direct combat zones.

Its Size 10 torpedoes are the centerpiece of its offensive identity. The Polaris is not a traditional brawler that wins by trading close-range fire endlessly. Instead, its strength relies on positioning, timing, target selection, and using torpedo pressure at the right strategic moment during coordinated fleet operations.

The onboard small-craft hangar also gives the Polaris more flexibility than a standard torpedo platform. A carried fighter or utility craft can help scout sectors, provide defense, or extend the operational reach of the ship during longer missions. Combined with substantial cargo space and support-focused infrastructure, the Polaris functions as a true fleet platform rather than just a large weapons system.

Capital-Class Combat Role

In combat situations, the Polaris is best used as a coordinated strike and fleet support ship. Its torpedo payload allows it to pressure larger vessels and fortified positions, while its network of turrets and missile systems helps defend the ship when properly crewed.

The Polaris performs at its highest potential when supported by appropriate escorts. Friendly fighters and anti-fighter gunships can screen smaller threats, allowing the Polaris crew to focus on positioning, torpedo timing, and maintaining battlefield presence. This makes it an asset for organizations that prioritize planned fleet engagements over simple single-ship loops.

Multi-Crew Gameplay

The Polaris is not designed to reach its operational potential as a solo ship. A small crew may be able to manage basic navigation, but the ship becomes significantly more effective when multiple players handle dedicated roles. The pilot manages capital positioning, turret gunners protect firing arcs, torpedo operators focus on strike timing, engineers monitor ship systems, and support crew manage hangar logistics.

This is why the Polaris remains highly popular with Star Citizen organizations. It gives a group a shared mission platform where different crew members have clear responsibilities. For players who enjoy teamwork, planning, and fleet coordination, the Polaris offers much deeper gameplay than a simple single-seat combat ship.

If you prefer to build toward the Polaris from an existing ship, you can view our Star Citizen CCU Upgrades and plan a more flexible fleet upgrade path over time.

Polaris vs Other Large Star Citizen Ships

The Polaris occupies a unique position among large Star Citizen ships. It provides a more strategic framework than standard gunships, a more combat-oriented layout than exploration ships, and a more practical operating scale than the largest capital vessels.

Ship Fleet Option Primary Core Role Compared with RSI Polaris
Perseus Heavy Gunboat The Perseus is focused on direct gun-based combat with a smaller crew requirement. The Polaris offers Size 10 torpedo capability, hangar utility, higher cargo capacity, and broader logistical fleet support.
Hammerhead Anti-Fighter Gunship The Hammerhead is specialized as an anti-fighter screen. The Polaris trades full anti-fighter saturation for anti-capital ordnance capacity, hangar utility, and broader fleet infrastructure.
Carrack Exploration / Expedition The Carrack is optimized for long-range mapping and exploration loops. The Polaris swaps exploration-focused utility for a more combat-oriented military layout, heavier weapons, and stronger fleet combat positioning.
Idris Military Frigate The Idris is a significantly larger and more demanding asset to crew and manage. The Polaris is more agile and more practical for mid-sized groups running regular operations.

Polaris Strengths and Limitations

Strategic Strengths Operational Limitations
Size 10 torpedoes give the Polaris reliable capital-level strike potential. Not ideal for players who primarily want a simple solo daily-driver ship.
Engaging multi-crew gameplay with clear roles for pilots, gunners, engineers, and support crew. Requires active coordination to reach full combat effectiveness.
Onboard small-craft hangar adds excellent fleet flexibility and carrier utility. Large profile makes it a high-priority target in contested conflict zones.
576 SCU cargo capacity supports extended logistics, supplies, and mission cargo. Operating costs and rearm logistics are higher than standard sub-capital ships.
Strong long-term asset value for established organizations and fleet builders. Depends on planning, friendly escorts, and crew coordination to perform best.

Who Should Buy the Polaris?

The Polaris is an asset for players who want a serious Star Citizen fleet ship with clear utility. It is an ideal choice for organization leaders who need a functional command ship, combat crews who enjoy multi-crew coordination, and fleet builders who want a capable capital asset to anchor group sessions.

It is less suitable for individuals who focus on a low-maintenance ship for quick solo sessions. The Polaris represents an operational commitment, and it provides its highest value when used alongside strategic planning, active communication, and friendly fighter escorts.

Polaris FAQ

Is the Polaris worth buying in Star Citizen?

The Polaris is highly worth considering for players who want a capital-class combat ship with true fleet value. It is best suited for organizations and teams focused on patrol, escort, and multi-crew torpedo operations.

Can the Polaris be used solo?

While you can pilot the ship solo to transport it between locations, it is far less effective and much more vulnerable without a coordinated crew. To operate its turret coverage, torpedo gameplay, ship systems, and support roles properly, a coordinated crew is highly recommended.

What is the main role of the Polaris?

The Polaris is a capital-class corvette designed for sector patrol, tactical fleet escorts, anti-capital strike missions, and serving as a mobile command ship for group operations.

What makes the Polaris different from the Perseus?

The Perseus is a smaller gunboat focused on direct, large-caliber cannon combat. The Polaris is a larger vessel that introduces Size 10 torpedoes, an integrated small-craft hangar, broader fleet support value, and significantly higher cargo capacity.

Is the Polaris better than the Hammerhead?

They serve different roles. The Hammerhead is a dedicated defensive platform built to clear fighter screens. The Polaris is a broader capital corvette designed for heavy torpedo strikes against large ships while using its hangar and cargo space to support group operations.

Does the Polaris have good long-term value?

Yes. The Polaris offers strong value for players invested in fleet building and organization-level gameplay. Its combination of Size 10 ordnance, dedicated multi-crew stations, internal hangar capability, and cargo logistics gives it a highly defined role in group environments.
